Have you ever worked for a boss that exhibited absolutely no compassion or regard for any type of personal feelings? The one that felt like you should work through your lunch break to give extra time to the company. The one that never had children of their own, so had no idea when you needed to leave early for a sick child. The one that when the weather got really bad, they made you stay at the office and risk your safety on the roads home through the storm. The one that at times felt like a robot, and not someone with a heart. I have and it made my work environment miserable. I worked for the company for a number of years prior to being transferred and getting this new boss. I worked under three different bosses and loved the job that I was doing and was excited about going to work each day... until I wasn't. Several of my co-workers felt the same level of distain, but were either too afraid to speak up or just did the minimum to get by and went home at the end of the day. One of my colleagues had been searching for another job and he was fortunate enough to land something he was really excited about. During his exit interview, the boss that I mentioned handed him an email. This was an email he had sent to me a couple of weeks prior, so she had been reading our emails each day. One day when he was fed up with her behavior, he sent me an email letting me know that he found another job. At the end of the email he said, "The devil doesn't wear Prada, she drives a red Subaru". I immediately began to laugh at the comment, yet the words resonated with me. I could relate to his sentiment because I felt exactly the same way. Very rarely in life have I come across people that I thought were pure evil, but she definitely took the cake.
